Jewellery Care

Looking after Sterling Silver jewellery

All of my Jewellery is made from Recycled Sterling Silver, so naturally it will need to be looked after.

Sterling Silver is an alloy that is 92.5% Silver and 7.5% other alloys - mainly copper. It is these other alloys that toughen it up making it suitable for use as jewellery. But because of these it will naturally tarnish.

Top three tips for keeping your silver jewellery looking beautiful

1. Keep your silver jewellery in its box

I would recommend keeping your silver jewellery in the box provided as it has an anti-tarnish layer so this will slow down the tarnishing process. Store your jewellery carefully as exposure to excess heat or damp conditions will cause your jewellery to tarnish.

2. Avoid perfumes and chemicals

Try and avoid perfumes, cosmetics and household chemicals when wearing your jewellery. Oh and Silver really isn't a fan of Chlorine so take it off before you go swimming or for a dip in the hot tub.

3. Clean your silver jewellery

To keep handmade jewellery looking as fresh and beautiful as the day it was made, I would recommend cleaning it, just a drop of washing up liquid to some warm water and let it soak so ten minutes and give it a gentle rub over with a soft toothbrush or cloth and then rinse and dry it.
